About
This June, The Congregation is proud to feature READ MY LIPS: Silence is STILL Death, a solo exhibition by Kelz Cousins curated by Dr. Chanel Beebe. READ MY LIPS: Silence is STILL Death is rooted in a lineage that refuses quiet. Drawing from Gran Fury and ACT UP, movements that used art as intervention, this work makes urgency visible and insists that silence is never neutral. Echoing Audre Lorde, the exhibition holds that silence does not protect us. As a queer artist exhibiting during Pride Month, Kelz Cousins presents work that is bright, direct, and insistent, part of a living archive of resistance, care, and visibility. Set within The Congregation's café and community space, this exhibition continues our commitment to uplifting artists while fostering connection through art, coffee, cocktails, and shared experience. 🖼️ On View: June 2 – June 28 📍 Location: The Congregation Detroit | 9321 Rosa Parks Blvd ☕ Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Friday | 8 AM – 9 PM Saturday | 9 AM – 9 PM Sunday | 9 AM – 6 PM 🎉 Opening Reception: Saturday, June 13th | 3:00 – 5:00 PM Join us to celebrate READ MY LIPS, meet the artist, and experience the work in community.
